From 1928, Birmingham carved one of Britain's largest inter-war estates from Warren Farm and Kettlehouse land, laying out around 6,700 homes. A 1938 aerial photograph already marks Weybourne Road's north-eastern end as complete, even as the Shady Lane school house next door was being demolished.
A major current application, 2026/01885/PA, proposes works at Oscott Manor School that affect the Grade II listed Maryvale Institute. A 2017 ward meeting separately recorded 12 street trees on Weybourne Road scheduled for pruning.
Oscott Brook once wound down Old Oscott Hill to the River Tame but was culverted after the Second World War. The parallel Hol Brook fed four mills by 1843, all gone before 1880, though the industrial estate near Aldridge Road still carries the name Paper Mill End.
Maryvale's Sacred Heart Chapel, dedicated in 1814, was the first public shrine to the Sacred Heart in England. A 2010 councillor campaign listed Weybourne Road among Oscott's deteriorating concrete carriageways still awaiting resurfacing.
