A 1930s photograph captures the Duke of Kent's car passing the Sand and Gravel Works on Queslett Road. The old quarry, Birmingham's most extensive gravel extraction site, is now largely backfilled, though a demolished farmhouse's footings consolidated in 2012 still lie in the grass near Booths Lane.
Speed enforcement dominates Queslett Road's police record. The A4041 logged 208 total mobile-camera offences towards the Queslett Public House, and a laser van checked the road again in April 2024.
An outline application seeks up to 850 dwellings, a primary school and community facilities on the fields between Queslett Road, Aldridge Road and Doe Bank Lane, exceeding the 771-home figure previously allocated in the local plan. Access would add two new priority junctions on Aldridge Road and a traffic-light junction on Queslett Road.
On the 1834 Ordnance Survey map Queslett was a rural hamlet where the Holbrook stream ran south to the River Tame. The 45-hectare farmland block beside the road sits next to Barr Beacon SINC, while the former Great Barr park forms a green corridor with the A4041 as its southern edge.
Handsworth Lodge, a Grade II listed Gothick gatehouse, still stands on Queslett Road in Sandwell, listed since 1971. At the Aldridge Road junction, eight Lunar Society figures carved in stone in 1998 stand outside a supermarket, and a wartime account from August 1944 recalls American troops stationed at nearby Pheasey.
