A wartime emergency water supply once stood on the avenue, visible on a 1946 RAF photograph but demolished by 2021. A decade earlier, the 1930s Palm Bay expansion built out this corner of East Cliftonville from fields that had changed little since 1845.
Kent's forward works programme lists 10 to 15 trees for soft-surface planting on the avenue. Past applications sought a chalet bungalow behind number 23 and a two-storey outbuilding behind number 19.
The avenue sits on chalk cliff-top land roughly 20 metres above sea level. Below, a sewage tunnel cut 70 feet deep into the chalk runs from the Cliftonville end of Margate toward the eastern esplanade.
In 1951, the London Gazette recorded two Russian-born residents, Hyman and Rachel Cooper, at Villa Dobree on the avenue. At the Northumberland Avenue junction stands a George V pillar box cast between 1922 and 1927.
